OPERATING
QUESTIONS:
Q: Do either the one port or two port ATCOM
320 support POE?
A: No, neither phone supports Power over Ethernet.
Q: Does this phone work with Linux ? if
it does work with which kernel, kernel 2.4 or kernel
2.6?
A: It works with any computer that has a sound card.
It works with Linux kernel of any version that has
a working USB driver.
Q: What's the minimum bandwidth the phone
requires? Is it going to work on a 128kbps DSL line
with the G.729 codec?
A: If you use G729 as codec, you will need 12 kbps.
If you use G711 as codec, you will need 64 kbps.
This phone supports both. It is your choice.
Q: Does the phone support the ilbc, gsm
and speex codecs?
A: It does not support ilbc or speex. It supports
GSM But ILBC support will be coming in the next
revision of the firmware. We are not sure when this
will be exactly, approximately in the next six months.
HARDWARE QUESTIONS:
Q: Do either the one port or two port ATCOM
320 support headsets?
A: You may attach a headset through the handset.
Q: Do the phones support European power
adapters?
A: The power unit we ship with the phones support
US and Euro Power voltage. We suggest procuring
a 3 Pin dummy adapters the 2 Pin US adapter.
SETUP QUESTIONS:
Q:
I ordered some phones from you recently. What is
the correct version of firmware?
A: The correct version of firmware for the phones
is kept up to date on the website, please go to
downloads.
Please be careful to download the correct firmware
for your model of phone. If you have any questions
please ask.
Q: The phone works for a while, but then
the buttons stop functioning properly. Is the phone
bad? What can I do?
A: This does not mean that the phone is bad, but
that the wrong firmware as been uploaded. The phone
must be reflashed with the correct firmware, if
you are unsure please contact a representative.
Q: When I am using the hands-free speaker/microphone
the person on the other side can hear oneself back
even though the echo cancellation option is activated.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this? I really
don't want to use the handset.
A: This is a useful feature called "Analog
Sidetone". Try this - Pickup your Polycom
handset and blow air into the mouthpiece while
holding the
other end of your handset to the ear, just as you
talk to someone. You should hear your own blowing
sound. This shows that your handset is functional.
If there is a lot of echo when you are on speaker
phone, please uncheck all options like 'VAD' -
Voice
Activity Detection etc, except 'AEC' - Auto Error
Correction.
Q: The phone is not responding, what can
I do?
A: If your phone is not responding it must be reflashed,
please follow these directions.
